CSREC is heavily committed
to partnership working with statutory and other agencies and voluntary organisations to combat the effects of racism and to
promote good practice, acting as the lead agency on a number of schemes in areas such as policy development working groups,
safer community schemes and raising levels of racist incident reporting. A number of these schemes have been singled out for
praise, most notably the Racial Attacks and Harassment Multi-Agency Strategy Scheme (RAHMAS).
Funding under the Connecting Communities and Ethnic Minority Grant Scheme
(EMGS) was successfully sought in partnership with two other agencies, namely Falkirk Council’s Community
Education Department and the Community Training & Development Unit (CTDU).The decision to make the approach for funding for these positions was made due to concerns
raised by most of the groups, organisations and individuals who constitute the membership of CSREC. The consensus was
that there is a need to engage in capacity building within central Scotland owing to the lack of basic infrastructure amongst
minority ethnic communities in Central Scotland, and the subsequent lack of input into decision-making processes.
CSREC applied for funding from the Connecting Communities and Ethnic Minority Grant Scheme (EMGS) in partnership with Falkirk
Council Community Education Department and CTDU to ensure involvement of the wider community and public bodies. CSREC is the
lead organisation.
CSREC is a partner-organisation of RAHMAS (Racist
Attacks and Harassment Multi-Agency Strategy). The RAHMAS network comprises of many local statutory bodies, voluntary
agencies, educational institutions as well as community groups in Central Scotland each partner fully committed to take action to identify and eliminate unlawful racial discrimination,
racist attacks and harassment and to promote good relations between people of different racial groups.
